Zirconium-Iron

 

Zr (76.6%) -  Fe (23.4%)

 

Zirconium-iron getters can be activated at intermediate temperatures. In the 300°to 400° C. operational temperature range, this getter has low reactivity with N2, but reacts well with H2O, O2, CO, and CO2. 

 

With these characteristics, it is very suitable for the purification of N2 or the gettering of nitrogen backfilled devices. 

 

For large-scale purification of N2, nitrided Zr-Fe getter alloys (Zr-Fe-N) are preferable for safer handling and operation.

 

This alloy is a very good, general purpose getter for vacuum gettering at intermediate activation/operational temperatures.
